Is affiliate marketing a scam in Nigeria?

𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 Marketing.

I have seen so many comments online on different Facebook adverts comment section and on peoples timeline calling affiliate marketing a scam and a Ponzi scheme. If you don't understand affiliate marketing, let me explain it to you in a lay mans understanding.

Affiliate marketing is a type of business where you sell a product which belongs to another seller and you get paid for selling his products.

The money you make from affiliate marketing is called Affiliate commission.

Let me give you a little gist.

Growing up as a young boy in Lagos. I would go to Yaba Market to buy clothes, most especially jeans and polo.

I would see brother Emeka standing on the road, calling people and talking to people, trying to convince them to buy strong jeans and long lasting polo that doesn't wash.

He would always say "Bros I get better better jeans were no dey wash, I get fine fine polo for my shop, bros come check my shop, I know say you go like the jeans and polo.

I would follow Emeka to his shop and he would show me the jeans and polo of different styles and sizes. I would pick my choice and he would tell me the jeans is N7000.

As a young boy with little money, I would price the Clothes for N5000 and after much negotiations, we will come to an agreement and he will sell the clothes for N5000.

I noticed after Emeka has sold the clothes to me, he would give the money to one matured woman sitting inside the shop.

She will count the money and give Emeka N1000 and keep N4000 to herself.

The actual price of the clothes is N4000, the selling price Emeka sold to me was N5000.

He made extra N1000 after selling to me.

This made me realize.

1. Emeka doesn't have his own shop.

2. He doesn't have his own jeans and polo(Products).

3. The woman he gave the money is the owner of shop and the clothes he sold to me.

4. Emeka sells her products(Jeans and polo).

5. The N1000 the woman gave to him is Emeka's commission for selling the clothes to me successfully.

What Emeka is doing is called Affiliate Marketing.

He sells other peoples product and gets a commission after making successful sales.

Would you say Emeka is a scammer or the business is a scam?. Yes or No.

I'm sure your answer is No.

This is exactly what online affiliate marketers are doing on facebook and other social media platforms.

•They join an Affiliate Platform.

•They Select a product to sell online.

•They Advertise the product online.

•They sell the product successfully online.

•The collect their affiliate commission after making sales.

These products could either be a physical product like clothes, shoes, electrical appliances or digital products like E-books, courses, videos, trainings e.t.c.

My question is if you can't call Emeka a scam for selling cloths to a customer, why should you call online affiliate marketing a scam.

I hope I have been able to convince you and not confuse you that online affiliate marketing is not a scam.

Note: You might be annoyed and sad because you have not made the N400k or N300k they said you would make in 30 days.

Guess what, I have not made a single sale too. Lol. I still don't know how to sell.

This requires dedication, time, consistency, knowledge, marketing technique, marketing strategy, writing good copy, running good adverts, having a sales page and finally knowing how to sell.

Take your time to study, learn, understand and most especially, take actions.

That's how affiliate marketers make it big.

How can I study abroad when I do not have the finances?

Studying abroad can be difficult without the proper finances, but there are options available to international students to help them pursue their dreams.

Many international students secure educational loans through private lenders like MPOWER Financing. Uniquely though, MPOWER also provides immigration, career development and financial empowerment support before, during and after graduation. Another unique aspect of MPOWER is that your loan application can be approved on the basis of your future earning potential, not your current wealth.

You can get an MPOWER loan even if your family doesn’t ha

How can I start affiliate marketing and get sales using WhatsApp?

The only way that you can truly make it work with only using WhatsApp what be to share that number around to get people to message you with it. The big trick is to do it without being spammy like all the other people who are using WhatsApp to “sell products.” There’s a lot of scammers out there using WhatsApp due to its encryption and less ability to be traced, so it’s hard to believe someone when they say “Hit me up on WhatsApp to learn more”

One thing that I would recommend is to build a brand and let the call to action be to message you on WhatsApp. If you have a product, start marketing how
